  • Late 19th century

    International interest in the minerals of the DRC and Zambia.

  • 1899

    Construction of the Benguela Railway Line (CFB) begins.

  • 1902

    Sir Robert Williams takes over the project following the death of Cecil Rhodes.

  • 1929

    Completion of the CFB Line to Luau.

  • 1931

    First copper cargo arrives at the Port of Lobito by rail.

  • 1975

    Angolan independence and decline in rail traffic due to civil war.

  • 2001

    End of the CFB Company concession; assets revert to the State.

  • 2003

    Creation of the public company CFB-EP.

  • 2015

    Celebration of 40 years of independence with a strategic vision for the Corridor.
